Ever have an idea that, as you think about it, sounds like the most amazing idea you have ever had? Then, have you ever had that great idea feeling backfire when you get to the actual execution of said idea? I ask because that's pretty much what happened with this drawing. It SEEMED like a good idea, an angel seeing her demon reflection through a puddle sounds... well it sounds cliched, but also visually appealing. And to be honest, the idea itself might not be at fault, but this drawing... after the hours I spent on it, seems disappointing. I had finished half of the drawing and was already not liking it, but it would have been a waste to just leave it. So I finished it to the best of my ability and patience. It's a something. It's a finished something. And I suppose that's still infinitely better than an unfinished something. Now I can finally doodle something else.

Kind of a WTF moment.

Couldn't decide on what to doodle today, so I found a random noun generator to do the hard work for me. It gave me stairs. I suppose that is pretty random. I was rather expecting a word I didn't recognize, but I guess there are only so many nouns in the world.

My recent style is borrowing heavily from my friend, mister Rad Sechrist. And a little bit from another artist, a Bill Otomo. Ok maybe not so much Bill. More like I WISH I could draw something even NEARLY as nice as he does. I don't know what it is, but there's something very comfortable about sketching in this style. It's like I'm still drawing, but it feels relaxed like doodling. I'll keep working on a way to make it more of my own, but right now, yeah, I can't deny how much it looks like copying.

As absurd as it all is, the plot to Assassin's Creed is still very engaging, especially the story of Ezio. Sure it has it's crazy conspiracy plot line, it's highly implausible assassination practices, as well as some crazy scifi nonsense to boot, but I'd be some kind of cynic if I didn't find it interesting. And not in the same way that Michael Bay Transformers can be "interesting", but in one of those ways where... where you see a man jump off the tip of a high tower, landing into a stack of fresh hay, then popping right out like nothing happened, and you think to yourself how highly impossible that is, but for some reason you are willing to let it slide. Sure, I'll believe that. Like I'll believe modern society is under the influence of the Templars, or that there's some sort of DNA strand or something that can be accessed to relive your ancestor's life, or that dressing flamboyantly is ok for an assassin as long as he or she is wearing a hood. It's THAT engaging. No one is going to tell me Leonardo Da Vinci isn't an awkward and silly man, who happens to be buddies with an Italian assassin! Not on my watch! Because I'm clearly watching... something... Didn't know where I was going with that. Clearly I was going nowhere.

Not exactly the most creative way to start anew, but I just felt this was too good to pass. Rarely do I get a taste of something awesome entertainment wise from my homeland, especially something that isn't blatantly stolen from something else. But every once in a while, a gem, bright as a star, finds a way to penetrate my eyeballs and take over my brain goop. This is one of those things. The animation... so good. I'm actually inspired to do something amazing. Unfortunately, I need to go to work, where all that inspiration will probably be drained from my soul. Hopefully, when I watch this again when I get home, I'll be inspired once again by the pure awesomeness of this here short. Needless to say, please watch this.

BEHOLD! A bold new look for a not especially new time. Having grown tired of the old look, I felt it was about time to give the ol' blogspot a new coat of paint. This blog has been going... how long have I been doing this? Four years now? Amazing! Who knew I could stick to one thing for that long! I obviously haven't done the same with my comic series (which I will actually get into a little later o_o).

Anyway, with a new look, there is bound to be new content, right? WRONG! Well, almost wrong. There is ONE new feature... capital letters at the start of sentences! What?? Grammar?? Are you mad??? Perhaps. Perhaps it takes a madman to apply grammar to something that is so unneeding of words, like an art blog (did I mention I'm still making up my own words? It's for this dictionary/movie pitch I'm writing called "WHATEVAS: The Reckoning"). A picture is a thousands words, as they say. But in my case, a picture is maybe ten words, so I gotta make up for the loss. I am also not particularly good at grammar so you will still find incomplete sentence, run-on sentences, an exuberant number of commas, and stupid jokes (I blame my jokes on grammar. As a whole).

Anyway, I don't have exclusive new artwork for this post (other than the blog itself) so here's a picture of what you are looking at. So that it creates one of those infinite images within an image thing. All for you. Love it, or die trying.

[NOTE: I just tried to make that infinite loop image, and I guess I never realized I would need to time travel to get it done. Hmm... Conundrum]

im pretty terrible at setting priorities, especially when it comes to my own personal projects. one minute i'll be planning up an update for my website, then i'll be working on making a flash adventure game, then i start drawing characters i wanted to create for a game concept or a comic, THEN i'll want to make a short cartoon, and now i have 4 big projects running through my skull mush and im completely incapable of completing a single one of them. im gonna have to pick one of these projects and stick to it. it's kinda annoying that i think of crazy ideas faster than i can create them, but i'll just have to learn to refrain from being quite so unmanageable. i'll probably announce what project ive decided to stick with in a week or so, but here's a sketch of the characters i was dreaming up for the game concept/comic i was talking about.

the idea was basically, what if final fantasy was not about crazy teenagers with super sexy magic powers saving the world, but a squad of average-ish people with practical-ish skills saving the world. you know, putting some human back into the characters. because if you've been following final fantasy of late, the characters seem to be more and more detached from reality. the comic part would be a short story that involves all the characters and lets each of them shine at least a little bit, and that would be that. i think the squad is missing one more character (one that acts as a main protagonist of sorts), but im gonna hold off on doing that until i can figure out what project to prioritize on.

so as i was saying all those days ago, i want to update my website. it will probably be a big revamp, but not everything will change. i do want to bring with me to the new site, some of the characters that are on my current website. now if you havent seen my current site, i'd click the weird striped fish on the left sidebar of this blog. it is very fish like.

anyway, here are a few doodles i did of the characters that will very likely return in the next website design.

the most noticeable design change is the rainbow girl (i should really give these characters names), mostly because i didnt like the color design she used to have. so i guess she dyed her hair impossibly blue and got more goth or something (mascara makes me think goth. i suppose she could be emo). maybe she had a bad breakup. i'll ask her later. banana man is still a banana.

overall, progress is slow, but it still sounds very fun in my head, so hopefully it will stay that way.

it is incredibly hard to write with the television on. ah! commercials! time to write!

so i was invited to do a painting for the hive gallery's best of show. unfortunately i was invited kind of late and was given maybe 2 weeks notice. didnt help that i was doing overtime at work for many of those days. in the end, due to actual circumstances unavoidable by myself, and circumstances created by myself (i have a painting to do? WELP, time to vacuum the floor!), i only had a total of maybe 48 hours to start and finish a painting. would have liked to spend a little more time on it, but it turned out alright in the end. especially since i havent painted anything for months. it is good fun. i mean, it is good fun when i dont have to rush it. so i guess this time was fun... in a stressful kind of way...???

so some of you might be wondering, where's the update, buddy? what happened to the everyday-ish thing? well, as i prophesied, my recent purchase of a ps3 has greatly effected my ability to do things that arent ps3 related. it pains me to leave my games unfinished, my imaginary quests incomplete. there have been numerous times where even eating seemed like more trouble than it was worth. long story short, i have a problem.

i wouldnt quite call it addiction, though i have to admit it's pretty close. this kind of thing happens to me quite easily, and it tends not to discriminate when it comes to what it is i cant keep my hands off of. a good example is when i actually get down to work, i cant stop. i feel a need to finish it. i dont know what it is exactly, but it isnt uncommon. i can almost consider it a double edged sword kind of deal, except i find myself applying it to useless things like videogames more often than anything else. at least i have the sense to keep away from world of warcraft... but believe me, i have come close to playing it many times.

but that's all besides the point. the point is, i've stopped updating again, and thus have failed both my followers and myself. shame. tomorrow (which is minutes away) will hopefully fare better.

apparently, yesterday was the 25th anniversary of one of my favorite gaming franchises EVER, the legend of zelda. i tell you this a day later because yesterday i was very distracted by cloud and his gang of misfit teenagers and angry black guy with machine gun for a hand (who is not a teenager) and did not bother to do much else.

but what better excuse than this to do some zelda doodles. when i get back home from work. i am so PUMPED! because zelda ROCKS!! YEAH!!! ZELDA!!1! also it might be the energy drinks i down because i cant stay awake at work...

but aside from that, here are a few things i'd like to show you all. i usually dont post or link other things, but these are great exceptions.

firstly, check out this AMAZING piece of zelda love right here. it is HUGE. i want it as a poster but i dont have a piece of wall tall enough for it. my zelda doodle will not even begin to compare to what this thing is. must see.

secondly, not zelda related, but still good, is this youtube video of a guy playing mario music on the piano for 25 MINUTES STRAIGHT (say whaaaaaat).

now i dont know much about playing music (other than it looks like magic) but i believe this is still quite an amazing feat. he isnt using any music sheets either! (again, i probably dont understand the significance of this. im imagining it's like building a lego x-wing without the manual) and even if that doesnt sound impressive enough to watch it, if you've ever played a mario game, this will surely bring back memories, and maybe give you that cool tingly feeling when you remember cool things. what is that called? err.. whatever. the thing! you know it! don't lie!

so yes, enjoy those things, because they should be enjoyed, and i'll get back to you later. and by later i probably mean tomorrow-ish. toodles!

so i finally got myself a PS3 :O i dont have any games yet, but i checked out what they had available to download, and lo and behold, FINAL FANTASY 7. it has been more than a decade since i last played this game. i probably played through it about 5 or 6 times. and i remember almost none of it. lol. i have terrible memory. so i am really excited about playing it. will it hold up to my expectations (practically zero at this point) or will it crumble in it's oldness? is cloud really as emo as i believe him to be? or have i dramatized it over time? we will see. we will ALL SEE!!!

here it is, my disappointing sailor moon. im not happy with it. not happy at all. im going to give it another shot. i think i wasnt having enough fun drawing it and it shows. probably because of the pressure of not drawing for a long time. it'll get better.

hello. happy new year! just in time for chinese new year! yes. i have been missing for quite a long time. i am sorry. please forgive me. something that i have also noticed is my ability to write concisely (or just plain well) has greatly diminished. i am quite disappointed in myself. i have awarded myself the seal of shamefully crappy writing. it is a seal i will wear with great shame (as is the point). in any case, in an attempt to not ramble for too long (my greatest talent), i am just plain old sorry for my absence.

now, as the two things tend to go hand in hand, ignoring my blog also means i havent been doing a lot of drawing. other than the occasional doodle, i really havent been drawing recreationally for some time. i can blame some of it on work, but a lot of the blame goes to me. however, here i have with me is my first official drawing of the new year! what is it? is it a space ship? is it a lightning bolt? is it captain lightning bolt?? (who is that?) NO! why it's SAILOR MOON!! obviously!

just in time for the lunar new year. LOL! (i planned this. yes). it's kind of a different interpretation of sailor moon (more sailor, less school girl), but this (unfinished) drawing is part of a deal i made with a friend a looong ago (like, 3 months?) for trading artwork. it wanted something of hers, so i needed something to give back in return. such is the way of the samurai. her request was good ol' sailor moon (a fine choice), which i was actually quite excited to draw, but as you are all well aware of now, i did no such thing. so yes. very soon she will be done, and hopefully she will be good enough for my friend to part with her drawing.

anyway, i was introduced to this site that acts as model poses you would get if you were sketching naked people. it has a collection of pics of naked peeps and shuffles through them in 30 second or a minute intervals, JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE. it's on a site called www.pixelovely.com. so, i was using that and did a few quick sketches, picked one i liked, and basically played with the drawing until i got this weird business devil chick. fun times. i have yet to try the thing i mentioned in the previous post. in due time...

really it's just an excuse to talk about unimportant things. something that i really want to try, because i have a concept, and i firmly believe it's plausibility, is that talking to yourself as you draw (as in commentating yourself as you draw) is a good way to turn one initial drawing idea into a drawing that may result in a clusterfuck of awesome. i am going to try this some time. maybe not during my after hours in the office, because i dont want my colleagues to think me insane, but possibly in the privacy of my own home. i would record myself as i do it, but i dont know how. i know my mac has a mic somewhere... hmm... this is a great way to show how my mind does not actually have a map and is probably better described as a stew like substance. also people can hear how dumb and unsexy my voice sounds. EXCELLENT.

as an example of my advanced lack of timing, here is a painting (or i suppose, more like a finished sketch) that i was planning on doing with actual paints for a show at my friend cecil's restaurant/gallery show for this winter season. i completely forgot about it and never got the time to sit down and paint. and now it is too late. but as for the theme of the painting, perhaps it is a few weeks too early... oh yeah! i gotta start thinking about christmas cards! thinking out loud!

i like making christmas cards. i like having a theme set up for me. it's like a challenge. i like challenges. at least when it comes to drawing. there are probably some real life challenges that im kinda not so great at, which might be getting a little too personal. dont want this blog to turn into some kind of diary. i used to keep a diary (diaries were cool!! shut up!). i still have it somewhere. when i read it, i want to burn it.

anyway, havent been feeling 100% lately. even took a day off work. and what did i do out of work? i watched way too much red vs blue. ive always wanted to get into it, but keep forgetting (typical). now that i've finally started watching it, i will never stop. anyway, if you've watched the series, then you know tex. i took a few liberties, but figured she deserves to look a little feminine every once in a while. what is with me and space suit chicks?

also, some things to consider...

1) when it's time to make your purchase, 1 of 2 things can happen. if i can get in contact with you physically, i will gladly meet up with you at some point and make the exchange personally. so if you're in LA or HK, that would be ideal. if i can't meet you one way or another, we will have to make the exchange by mail. i will email you an address to send a check, and i will mail the painting to you. im afraid shipping and handling will be up to you as well. i will send you the details if such a case occurs.

2) do take note that these are pictures taken from my phone's camera. the real thing may look somewhat different. i can't really help that. but i can say that from my point of view, the differences are minor. there are no blurry paintings, just blurry pictures (sorry, only have the camera on my phone). if you would like a clearer image, i will gladly retake the picture.

3) not all paintings are ready to hang. all wood paintings will have a way to hang them on the back, but paintings on other materials may need framing.

4) this might be obvious to some, but just in case, it's a silent auction, so there won't be a final stretch kind of thing you get from something like ebay or whatever. you wont have to keep your eyes on anything during the last few minutes. if your bid is high enough, you win. easy as that.

5) in the case of people making the same winning bid, all sides will be informed and will be given the chance to make a new higher bid or forfeit. the highest new bid or remaining bidder wins.

6) no refunds. sorry. never heard of anyone refunding a painting before.

dicks. ok so only one update this week. and talk about last minute. technically it's still sunday here in LA. and it's still 10:14pm (right at the ass end of the next iron chef series premier. because i like to watch random people cook things i will never eat).

i realize i've been away for a while. but im sure a couple of you know what it's like to start a fulltime job for the first time. needs a little time to adjust to the torment that is, in my case, 11 hr days on average. but i think ive finally got the hang of it (not really). or at least enough so to post things every once in a while. in any case, if you're still following me even through my 2 months-ish absence, thank you for having the patience. i am eternally grateful.

im working on something new. is it a show thing? im not sure yet. but it will be a series of sorts. i dont know if i can get actual acrylic paintings done at the moment with how little freedom i have these days. id be more than happy with digital prints for now. but i'd have to figure out how to get some quality prints. any ideas? i need to figure out what dpi and size i need to start painting to be of good print quality and size. very open to suggestions. some might say TOO open... (what does that even mean??)

my classes have recently ended and with all this newfound free time at my disposal, i feel the need to waste it.

just the other day my comic book buddy (the guy i leech comic books off of) reminded me of a comic book idea we had years ago back in high school. it was a silly idea, not fully thought out and wasnt really given the effort to fully execute (not unlike every other comic book idea we had back then). from what i can recall, it was a story about some schmuck working behind cubicle walls, hating every second of it. he was so tired of his life, and all the things that go on around him, that he promises himself to do the next crazy thing that comes to mind. and just as he makes his promise, some crazy red haired chick busts into the office block, pistols a-blazing, chased by men in black and whatnot. as the woman runs through the cubicles, she makes eye contact with the loser guy, and winks at him. at that very moment, the guy thinks to himself, "i want to follow this woman". and just like that, the guy finds himself knee deep in some crazy ass shit (poop of the crazies, as i like to pretend i call it), such as being shot at and jumping off skyscrapers. the woman is on a mission, and her mission is to live life outside of the norm and to the fullest... or something, but that's about as far as the actual planned out events go. the rest of the idea were loose thoughts and a lot of maybes. and then it went nowhere.

but the reason why my friend brought this up is because acclaimed comic book writer brian michael bendis has a new comic coming out called "scarlet" which in a very vague way, is the same idea as our shitty ass comic concept. what's more, the main character is a red haired chick with guns. i dont honestly think that our concept was anywhere near what this guy probably has in store for his comic, but it was similar enough to make me think back, which reminded me that i actually have the designs somewhere here in LA.

after some digging, i find the crappiest drawings ever. i want to burn them, but such is the way of a developing drawing person...

first of all, thanks to all those who came to the show last week! it was a good night. started off a little rocky with the rain and all, but eventually met a good number of random people, gave out a whole bunch of pins, so not bad. i also did a painting of the alice in wonderland themed show at the hive as well, and i wish i could post a picture of it to show you guys, but i kind of forgot to take a picture of it... :(

anyway, since then, im somehow still somewhat busy. i dont remember if i mentioned or not, but i am currently taking classes at the concept design academy over in pasadena for about a month or so now and going to each class and trying to keep up with the assignments doesnt leave me a lot of energy to do much else.

so instead of showing nothing, i figured i'd give you guys a glimpse of what ive been up to at the concept design academy. first up, Story Development for Animation.

these are some early sketches of some characters for a story im working on that i think i will try to complete (at least in a portfolio kind of way) about breakfast. there's the nerdy and kind of arrogant writer lady with the laptop, confident and somewhat aloof freelance artist (lol), and the happy little old cafe owner/chef who is also a secret ninja. i'll try to keep posting about this one because i think i quite like where it is going. the class itself however has a lot more to do with storyboarding and idea coming-upping. there's probably a better word for that. i would post storyboards, but they tend to be long...

next is Digital Illustration!

im really just posting this because i find it somewhat cute in an eery kind of way (anyone watch "the thing"?). the class aesthetic is nothing like this at all.

Character Design!

so far i feel like ive learned the most and spent the most time (relatively speaking) on this class. our first assignments involved creating animal characters (putting it simply). i would go deeper into it, but im getting tired of typing and should really be working right now anyway.

and lastly, Cinematic Storyboard.

wtf? sokka? married? with a bow tie?? wtf??? anyway, this class is predominantly a lecture class. lots and lots of notes. the assignments usually involve us getting a random script (usually related to the lecture) and having to board it with the avatar character sheets. simple, but really not much to show. wont go too in-depth into that.

so there you have it, a taste of things i am doing when im not updating wazard (soon! i promise!). if there is anyone who is actually interested in taking classes at the concept design academy, or just wants to know about them, please feel free to ask, i will give you a better description of them if you'd like. although i am only halfway through my course, fyi. ok, back to work.

well, tomorrow is the day. on saturday the 6th, at 8pm the hive gallery will be opening their doors for yet another exciting show, this months show being slightly more exciting for myself. i has been um... actually i cant remember how long it has been, but it's been some time since ive shown anything. be it busy-ness, laziness, or a weird combination of the two, paintings outside of the preparation of the show just never really got out there. but now, i'm all excited to have my work up on random walls once again.

okay, so i was lying about the WAZARD update (again). but i wasnt lying about the paintings update. SURPRISE!

you guys may remember me mentioning something about a show coming up in march. a relatively big show. if you remember that, then you might remember this painting way back when. it never really looked finished the first time i posted it, but after a few additions and tweaks here and there ive finally come up with something i like.

i dont remember if ive mentioned this before, but the theme of this show is a collection of lightning gods from around the world. now before i get any further, im only planning on playing with four of them. i know there are more, but i cant paint that many paintings. maybe for a next show. the one above is the chinese god, Lei Gong. the one below is only halfway done, but you might be able to guess which one by examining his lightning sidekick. i mean, if you are up to date with your lightning gods.

there are two more gods left. probably the two most obvious lightning gods out there. like the lightning god celebrities, you could say. then to accompany each god painting will be a smaller painting of one or two of their "shocking" lady friends (lol i suck at puns).

march isnt very far away. in fact, it is frighteningly close. i should really get back to work.

i cant say i remember how long ago, but it was some while back. a friend of mine, i guess you could say, commissioned me to paint something on his sketchbook cover. i did so, and was compensated with... lunch or something. i cant remember. so i asked him to take a picture of it for me, like, a millions years ago. and now, it is here. old stuff. or at least old enough for me to feel like i could do a much better job at it today (lol, sorry friend).

anyway, updates! well, WAZARD will have to wait till tmr. but i do have some painting updates for you. later. HAR. cant use up all my updating material in one go. that would be uneconomical. economics. so manly. like these new wheaties FUEL cereal i clearly did not buy but is obviously leaning on my microwave. with whosehisface on the cover. staring. judging you.

actually, i drew these before the break, but absentmindedly and nonchalantly forgot to post them. these were for a tiny calendar/gift thing one of the people i've worked for was making just for fun. it's a calendar featuring artist interpretations of certain freeway intersections. my choices were (top to bottom) the 10/1 freeways and the 710/405 freeways. why is there a giant chicken and/or alligator? the chicken represents my FURY and the alligator represents my SOUL. so deep. it's like deep sea diving deep. better check your atmospheric pressure meter. yes, i went there. i went into the realm of the literal. it's my job (no it's not).

anyway, unfortunately i dont have anything to show you because i havent been drawing because i have been snowboarding (yes. i snowboard now. because im so cool and awesome or whatever) and i hurt my hand :( my useful hand. not the other one. it'll be a few more days before i am drawing ready so, sorry. oh yeah, and happy new year! it's 2010! better than 2009? sure hope so! will update again soon.

this is a cropped picture of a painting i painted that is part of a long story. regardless of the details (which i'll probably get to at some other point), pacman fish.

been doing some more drawings for another flash game. about detectives and stuff. i didnt draw the dogs though. well... i traced the dogs off someone else's design.

the game itself isnt done yet. hell i dont even know if they're going to use these drawings. the few-cha! SO UNPREDICTABLE! oh and i got a fortune cookie today. it reads: depend on the predictability and steadiness of life to support you. i have never heard a more roundabout way of saying "be lazy forever, it's good for you".

oh yeah. the drawing only reads boobies because im a child. a child of wonders.

captain mcdonalds?

was at mcdonalds one day collectin' me stamps (arrgh?). you know, for the one MILLION DOLLARS prize. the last thing i expected in a mcdonalds in the middle of koreatown was a captain of the seas. and of course the last thing i would expect is always the first thing to happen. that's right. there was a captain at mcdonalds.

i tried to take some pics of the guy, but it was hard to do it without him seeing me. plus my phone just sucks at taking pictures. stupid phone.

and this is a terrible picture of him in mcdonalds. i was trying to not look like i was taking a picture of some dude in the middle of a busy mcdonalds (people in koreatown gotta have their big macs).

other than that... im just kinda wasting time. and i still havent won anything from mcdonalds. which is now the last thing i expect to happen. which means it might happen. except now that i think it might happen, it's not the last thing i'd expect anymore. lame.

hello. i am only a few months away from a BIG paintings show in march, even fewer months away from creating a concept art portfolio to submit to concept art schools for a possible concept art future (whole other story), and lately ive been kinda busy not doing both of those things. what have i been doing? well... this.

it's a weird little flash game for kids and shit! well... mostly kids, not so much the shits. the game is supposed to teach the childs (and i guess myself) about how nature is often a great source of inspiration for a lot of man made doodads. if i hadnt been working on the game myself, i would have failed this game miserably. check it out. it has weird little flash animated doohickeys and whatnots.

and if you really feel like learning things children are learning, you can go to the main page at the kid's science challenge website. ive got one or two other illustrations in there, although i am not going to find them for you. i suck at finding things. ask my keys. if you can find them.

also, not really related, but i tried out making texture brushes and the such on photoshop for the first time by cleaning up my sketch of my space exploration painting. it was... interesting. im not very good at making texture brushes. yet. but just so you all have something semi new to look at, i suppose. im going to have to get started on some acrylic work soon, but i might also have some random concept things here and there. we'll see. future and etc.

ok i dont usually use this blog to post cool things i find on the internet (that be a little ridiculous anyway), but this is simply AMAZING.

apparently this was posted about a month ago, but i only just saw it today. whatevs. im sure if youve seen it before, you wouldnt mind seeing it another 20 times.

also, this frame was going to be in the latest monster candy, but i removed it. because i can. and now it is here, for all to see.

and um... i guess one more thing wouldnt hurt. i mean it's so pretty! i dont really know the story being told, but it's still very fun to watch. it's about 8 minutes long.

anyone go to the hive show last saturday? unfortunately, i did not. and i was looking forward to it too. it turned out i was too busy being hooked up on energy drinks and trying desperately to finish another painting for the day after. the good news is, the other painting was completed on time. the bad news is, i forgot to take a picture or scan it. gave myself a good ol' pat on the back for that one. simply outstanding.

anyway, i guess i should at least mention what the other painting is for. good friend and mentor cecil kim had invited me to do a painting for the first art show at his restaurant/gallery. got to see the place for the first time when i dropped off my work on sunday. chill little chinese food place (fusion, maybe?), now featuring artwork from otis alums and faculty, myself included. the show opens on the 17th of october (i believe. im honestly not very sure how it's all going to work). if you cant make it then, do consider checking out cecil's restaurant anyway. the food smelt good (didnt get to try any) and they have fortune cookies. i enjoy fortune cookies. i shall leave you all with the restaurant's address and the digital sketch for the painting i did for the show. who knows, i might just get the painting back. maybe i should overprice it... hmm...

it has been a while, but i have just finished of my most recent painting, the moon card.

this is just a cropped image. you'll see the full thing in person if you go to the hive gallery's tarot card show the first saturday of october (that's the 3rd for you non-calendar types). or you can wait a while and i'll just post it here.

but the show! must go! you! the show has a different talented artist working on every arcana, as well as a large collection of paintings for the minor arcana. it will probably be quite the show to behold. i am actually quite surprised and honored to be one of the artists selected for the main arcana. whodda thunk it?

anyway, i also believe that the paintings will be used to create a deck of tarot cards. we'll see i guess. here is the postcard. BAM!
